To develop the first autism comprehensive education center in Venezuela:

  • Exclusively targeted to the school service and attention for children and teenagers with autism;
  • Which shall operate as a source of research and development for the skills and knowledge about education intervention of this syndrome to achieve incorporation of this population group within Venezuelan society;
  • And which performs as a reference education model for other institutions nationwide for the attention of children and teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

To carry out its goal ’AUTISMO EN VOZ ALTA’ Foundation has established four inter-related work areas, levering the experiences and academic research of Cepia directors and professionals in their 11 years of continuous operations.

  • To structure, organize and put into practice a front line school education model in the country, which may be replicated. The idea is to apply an education attention model to a representative group of children and teenagers with autism, in which the different experiences of autism attention are combined, adapting them to the specific conditions of the Venezuelan case.
  • To explicitly respond to the critical need for preparation and training of professionals for autism care in Venezuela.  The idea is to offer professionals of different areas (teachers, educational psychologists, language therapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, etc.) involved in the world of education, who work with people with autism, or wish to become prepared in this field, a formation option through the creation of (theoretical and practical) development programs on the necessary skills and experiences to work with this growing population.
  • To promote and offer early diagnosis and the design of an education intervention adjusted to the realities of each individual. The goal is to create a diagnosis and assessment service which allows, from early ages, to identify, and define the scope of the need for specialized intervention. Today, progress in this area has managed to significantly advance diagnosis age, detecting the syndrome’s traits in six-month old infants. In the world of autism, the earlier the intervention in the life of an individual the greater chances there are for progress. This includes structuring assistance programs for the integration to regular school systems for those children with autism whose functioning level allow such integration.

  • To explicitly respond to information needs on behalf of the parents and representatives.  The objective is to create discussion groups and information so that the parents can share ideas and learn about the implications of having a member in the family with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Also, the idea is to generate the necessary awareness to eliminate barriers and limitations imposed by ignorance of the alternatives and available options. This includes support groups, speeches by filed experts, workshops, and information disclosure on Autism.
